Located at the northern end of the Kullu Valley, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Manali is one of those places that, due to its location, offers Charms both in summer and winter. In the hot months, Manali is a popular tourist destination. In those of cold, a place that is covered with snow (it is at 2,050 meters of altitude), acquires an almost magical aspect. In summer you can enjoy the breathtaking view of an endless stream of almost melted glaciers that fill the slopes of the mountains with water, covering them with streams that will pour their water into the bed of the Beas River, which, in the center of the valley dominated by Manali runs with an immense and powerful flow.
Rohtang Pass Located at 3,979 meters above sea level. Rohtang Pass is the highest point of the road that connects Manali and Keylong. From this point, you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of mountains that dominate above the clouds. The roads are closed in winter; in summer it is an extremely cool place.
Near Rohtang Pass, we can find Beas Kund, the source of the Beas River. In Beas Kund, there is a temple in the shape of an igloo.
This temple, consecrated to the goddess Hidimba (or Hirma) Devi, is built on a huge rock and is surrounded by a forest of cedars. The structure of the Manali Hidimba Devi temple was built in 1553. The temple of Hidimba Devi presents the traditional formal characteristics of the pagodas of Himachal Pradesh. The base of these temples used to be built with shikhara, a stone from the area, and they were usually surrounded by stone ornaments or amalakas.
On this base, the roof rose, formed by several volumes that traditionally were covered with tiles of deodar (cedar of the Himalayas) and that now they are accustomed to cover with slate. Currently, the lower stone base of the Hidimba Devi temple no longer exists. At present, the structure has a height of 20.50 m high. The decoration of this temple is a very rich and has varied decoration. Folklore, tradition and Hindu religion motifs are represented; animals like elephants, lions or leopards, all of them are carved on wood.

Adorned with multiple wood carvings, the youngest of both temples is dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Of all these statues, the ones that are located inside the temple, have a blackened appearance due to the smoke of the oil lamps and the smoke of the incense.
