Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest and most renowned national park in India, located at the junction of Aravalli and Vindhya hill range in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, about 140 Kms from Jaipur. A former hunting ground for Maharajas, today the Ranthambore tiger reserve is a major tourist attraction amongst nature lovers and wildlife photographers. Ranthambore is also famous for jungle safari and is one of the best places in India for tiger siting.
The Ranthamore National park gets its name from Ranthambore Fort which is located inside the wildlife reserve overlooking the entire park. The Fort is a heritage site and a must visit if you are inside the park enjoying tiger safari. The Ranthambore forest allows safari to tourists according to a fixed schedule. The park has fix Safari timings for entry and exit to National Park.
Ranthambore National Park Safari is allowed only in two types of vehicles with valid licenses and permits from forest department of Rajasthan.
Jeep Safari : Jeep Safari in Ranthambore is the best way to observe wildlife from close. Approved by forest department of Rajasthan, these 4X4 Jeeps (Gypsy) can accommodate 6 tourists in one Safari. Jeeps are driven by trained drivers and are allowed at fixed safari timings during the Morning and Evening. The Ranthambore forest is divided into different zones, Safari vehicle goes on a fix route.
Canter Safari : Vans with open roof are called Canters. Canter Safari is good for large group of tourists and comes with its own advantage of a better view as you are seated on a height. 20 tourists can be accommodated in a canter safari.
